Synchroniser rings
Evolution und revolution –
Meeting the highest standards
Ready-machined, exclusively forged and coated synchroniser rings are our particular strength. Interlinked processes, the highest quality and further developments for our customers consolidate our position in Europe and in the global market. The synchroniser rings are used in manual gearboxes, automatic gearboxes and the new, very popular, double clutch gearbox systems. We are especially strict when it comes to quality. In-house test rigs, development work, numerous ISO certificates, and special customer-specific tests are some of the many reasons why we are a leading manufacturer of synchroniser rings and a long-term development and system partner to nearly all renowned automobile and gearbox manufacturers. And we have been for over 50 years.
The large-scale production of synchroniser rings using different press concepts is our speciality. Complex friction bearings, slide shoes subject to heavy use and other forged components in small and medium-sized series complete our portfolio. |
OTTO FUCHS Dülken develops innovative processes in synchroniser ring production
A sporty ride and comfortable gear change - improved properties as a result of injected carbon rings and structure rings
As a precise and reliable friction clutch, synchroniser rings are a prerequisite for sporty driving and comfortable gear change. In manual (and automatic) gearboxes, and modern double-clutch gearbox systems, synchroniser rings ensure that the speed of the gear wheels is adapted (synchronised) by means of friction before the gears can be changed. OTTO FUCHS has been producing forged synchroniser rings from special brass materials for some 60 years.
OTTO FUCHS structure rings
In conventional synchroniser rings, a thread is still turned into the brass friction cone. In the new OTTO FUCHS structure rings, the turned thread contour is replaced with a directly forged brass structure. The benefits of the OTTO FUCHS structure rings have the same function: longer service life and significantly reduced costs.
OTTO FUCHS injected carbon rings
In modern double-clutch gearbox systems and also in manual gearboxes in the highest output category, it makes sense to use synchroniser rings. OTTO FUCHS has developed an innovative solution for all these applications, in which a carbon fibre compound is sprayed onto the cone, forming a hybrid ring.
The OTTO FUCHS carbon fibre rings have the following decisive advantages:
- The surface structure and the carbon compound can be adapted to the appropriate tribology conditions
- Very good tolerances due to the die casting technology
- Constant friction co-efficient
- No additional bonding of the coating, which could come loose
- Production is more economical than for an affixed carbon coating
- Long service life
Research and Development
Applied materials technology is an integral part of developing new products. We have therefore been building in close cooperation with our customers for decades.
Our involvement begins at a very early stage of product development. This allows us to optimise our alloys specifically to products and processes.
